GOV SANI-BELLO MOURNS HAJIYA AISHA BRIDGET LEMU ... Says She Was An Advocate Of Girl -Child Education
Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has commiserated with foremost Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu over the death of his wife, Hajiya Aisha Bridget Lemu.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, the Governor expressed shock over the death of the great religious educator stressing that the vacuum created by her sudden demise will be difficult to fill.
Governor Sani-Bello eulogized late Aisha Lemu describing her as an extraordinary woman in Islam and an educationist who believed in the education of women as a priority in Islamic jurisprudence.
He said the death of Hajiya Aisha Lemu was a great loss not only to the immediate family and the state but huge loss to the country and the entire Muslim Ummah all over the world.
"It's indeed a sad moment for us. We lost a mother, an islamic scholar, an Author, Educationist and a strong advocate in the education and emancipation of women. She will be missed for her humanitarian and philanthropist activities".the Governor stated.
While praying Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and reward her with Jannatul Firdausi, the Governor also prayed Allah to give her family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Late Aisha B Lemu died at the age of 79 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu and children amongst them is Nuruddeen A. Lemu, also a front line Islamic Scholar.
Late Aisha B Lemu, who converted to Islam in 1961 and married her husband in April 1968, was a teacher at the School for Arabic Studies, Kano in 1966, Principal of Government Girls College, Sokoto in 1969 and Women Teachers College (WTC) Minna between 1976-78.
Together with her husband, late Aisha B Lemu founded the Islamic Education Trust (IET). She was also the initiator of the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) founded in 1985.
The deceased has published many Islamic books for junior and secondary schools, on the role of women and marriage, the ideal Muslim wife and husband as well as Animals in Islam among numerous others.
Governor Sani-Bello was accompanied during the condolence visit on the family of the renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Lemu
by his Deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, members of NIger State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Director Generals and other government officials.
Late Hajiya Aisha Lemu would be buried tomorrow.
