Gov Sani-Bello Assures Nigerlites Completion Of Abandoned Projects by Past Administrations ...Says Water Projects Remains Top Priority Of His Administration

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has reassured Nigerlites of his resolve to ensure the completion of people oriented projects initiated but abandoned by past administrations, stressed that governance was a continuous process.

He gave this commitment on Monday when he had an on the spot assessment of the ongoing work at the Bida Water Works. The water facility has suffered decades of neglect by successive administrarions.

Irked by decades of lack of portable water in Bida, due to non-maintenance of the township water works, Governor Sani Bello embarked on the reactivation of the facility along with the Minna, Suleja, Kontagora and New Bussa Water works.

The governor cited some water projects embarked upon by the administration of Late Governor Abdullahi Abdulkadir Kure but  abandoned by the immediate past administration were also reactivated for completition.

"We have to make sure that statewide water projects started by the late Kure administration are completed.

"This project started during the Late Kure administration, unfortunately the immediate past administration did not give it a consideration. We have to complete it because we believe government is a continuous process.

"The fact that the previous administration started projects and those projects are in the interest of the public, we just have to complete them."

While going round the facility, the Governor expressed satisfaction on the level of work done at the Bida Water Works, adding that efforts are on to ensure proper reticulation and adequate power supply.

He then disclosed that larger pipes have been laid as well as the installation of brand new high lift pumps.

According to him, "8 new pumps have been installed and 6 high lift brand new pumps have also been installed.

"The next stage will be to commence reticulation and to address the problem of electricity. We have to look for an alternative power source so that water can get to different parts of Bida town." He added
