The Management of Dangote Group has pledged partnership with Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council and its Co-operative Society.
The Group Executive Director, Government and Strategic Relations, Engr.Mansur Ahmed made this known on Thursday when the NUJ FCT Council Executive led by its Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche paid him a courtesy call in the company ’s Abuja Regional Office.
Ahmed who is also President of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) congratulated the new Executive, stated that Dangote Group recognized NUJ as an institution that is impacting people’s life in the country the same as the company. .
He noted that the visit was historic given the fact that it was made when Nigerians were looking at the activities of newsmen given the closeness of the election.
Ahmed who said NUJ has been up and doing in discharging its role noted that they are ready for a good and open minded relationship that will promote national development.
He accordingly said , “It is good and critical that we have a good understanding and strategic relation with institution like NUJ. Dangote Group has become a national institution and collaboration with other institutions is important to us.
“Again, Cooperation and collaboration across institutions are vital for our country to move forward. We have a duty and responsibility to work with each other to make progress in the society.
“We will also collaborate with your Co-operative and if you are ready for that, there is a process you must fulfill, he concluded.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of NUJ FCT Council, Emmanuel Ogbeche thanked the Dangote Group for opening its arms for comprehensive strategic partnership with council maintained that Dangote has become a household name in Nigeria.
He further said that council’s collaboration with the company is focused on Training and Retraining of journalists for capacity building to enable them meet up with modern day reporting.
Ogbeche also made case for NUJ Co-operative Society and combating hate speech especially as the 2019 elections approach.
