We will soon set up our Radio station-DG NYSC

The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps NYSC , Major General Suleiman Zakari Kazaure has reiterated the scheme readiness to establish a Radio station, this he said would form part of the communication strategies in response to the rapid growth in corps population and increased stakeholders expectations.

NYSC boss made this known while declaring open the 2018 Public Relations Officers workshop today in Abuja

The Director-General said the desire to deploy more effective Public Relations strategies for the success of the scheme informed the choice of the workshop's theme "Retooling NYSC PR Machinery For Greater Output"

General Kazaure however stated that the NYSC management attached importance to the role of relations officers towards courting stakeholders support for the Scheme

He urged Press and Public Relations officers of the Scheme to use their professional skills to influence the enhancement of service delivery in the scheme to gain the support of the general public. .

He said that young graduates were part of the scheme primary stakeholders, hence the need to avail the the Scheme of the benefit of the various social media platforms.

The Director-General then charged the participants to use the workshop to analyze the scheme's public relations strategies and come up with ideas that will help improve them for better results.

He accordingly said "As Image Makers, it is your responsibility to ensure that our public image improves. This can be achieved by aligning our communication strategies with current global trends.

There is need to attract louder applause from the public through enhanced publicity, we must therefore focus on giving adequate publicity to our feats in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, the Health Initiative for Rural Dweller and the Community Development Service, amongst others. "

Maj Gen Kazaure however maintained that the scheme has recorded significant achievements in recent times.

A Digital Media board presented by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of the scheme was also unveiled by the Director-General at the workshop.

In her welcome address, the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi congratulated NYSC DG on his elevation to the rank of Major General commended the Director General for the approval of the workshop which she said will consolidate the modest efforts of the  Public Relations officers as reputation and image managers of the 45 Year old institution.

She said the choice of the theme of the workshop is aimed at progressive actualization of productive and potent PR platforms nationwide.

The workshop paper with the theme: "Retooling NYSC PR Machinery for Greater Output" was delivered by a Lecturer from Baze University, Abuja, Dr. Arthur Martins Aginam, who was the Head of Secretariat, National Peace committee and former Executive Director, Kukah center.
