Gov Sani-Bello, Etsu Nupe Charge Youth On Productive Ventures

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello and Etsu Nupe,Chairman , Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers have charged youth in the state to engage in religious and productive activities that would add value to their lives and the society at large.

They also advised parents not to abdicate their parental roles as care-givers, mentors and role models to their children.

Governor Sani-Bello and Etsu Nupe gave the charge at the closing ceremony of the 33rd Edition of the Annual State Qur'anic Recitation Competition which was hosted by Lapai Emirate from 2nd - 8th December which held at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, IBBUL, Lapai at the weekend.

The Governor who noted that some youths in the state have engaged themselves in negative activities that have become worrisome to the society said it would not add any value to their lives. Adding that "engaging in sports, religious and productive activities would better their lives".

  

He then encouraged youths to participate in Quar'nic recitation competitions so as to increase their knowledge and to enable them stand the chances of receiving prizes in cash and kind which he said will add to their source of income and make them independant of themselves. 

"The winners gots  over N 500, 000 each. So I believe we can promote our youths to be more engaged in sports, Qur'anic recitation competitions and other productive aspects of life rather than just sitting down doing nothing."

Governor Sani-Bello then awarded the overall female winner of the Quar'nic competition, Jamila Musa from Mashegu Local Government Area of the state with the sum of N 500,000 and the overall male winner, Abbas Mohammed Hussain from Suleja also with the sum of N 500,000.

He commended the organizers and coordinators of the competition as well as Lapai Emirate  adding that the state government would continue to support the Quar'nic recitation competition.

In the same vein, Etsu Nupe and Chairman, NIger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar also advised youth in the state to engage in productive activities that would add value to them and the society at large.

In his remarks, the Emir of Lapai, Egnr. Umaru Bago III whose emirate was the host of the competition  described all the participants during the competition as winners and commended the state government for its support and contributions to the program. 

The guest speaker of the occasion,  Sheik Zakariya Abdulmalik explained that " no matter the level of education of an individual their is need to study the Holy Quran calling on the participants to have fear of Allah".

Earlier,  the Chairman,  Niger State Qur'anic Recitation Committee who was represented by Alh. Abubakar Salawu and the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Alh. Suleiman Abdulraham Nkochi as well as the Chief Coordinator of the Competition,  Sheik Dahiru Shuaibu all commended the efforts and contributions of the state government and the traditional rulers in cash and kinds to ensure that the competition was a successful.

Gov Sani-Bello was accompanied by Engr Dabban and Hon Ibrahim Ebbo, 

While Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago Tafida was the Chief host, Alhaji Abubakar Muye served as the Chairman  of the occasion.

Other dignitaries that graced the occasion,HRH Emir of Borgu,Alhaji Mohammed Sani Haliru Dantoro Kintoro IV, HRH Emir of Suleja, Alhaji Mohammed Awwal Ibrahim,HRH Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, HRH Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago and representatives of Sarkin Sudan Kontagora and Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, Commissioner for Transport, Engr Panti, members of religious ,traditional groups.
