My Govt will Continue To Support Farmers Says Governor Sani Bello

The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has said his administration will continue to invest in the agricultural sector of the state by providing equipment for farmers to boost their outputs .He stated this in an interactive programme on African Independent Television (AIT) on Friday while speaking on the state's Internally Generated Revenue and the state's investment in the agricultural sector.The state Governor who pledged his full support for the farmers in the state saying that the government would assist them in land preparation also said the state government would map out plans on how farmers in the state can improve from self sufficiency farming to commercial farming."We need to have a blueprint on how we can move from this level of subsistence farming into commercial farming." He said . Governor Sani Bello also disclosed that his government is investing in agricultural equipment because the capital investment in agriculture is mostly with the land preparation which the local people  or people that are not financially buoyant can hardly do "One area which the government can help is to assist in land preparation and through that we have to use heavy duty equipment which are quiet expensive."the Governor noted. He stated that companies have shown interest in partnering with the state in the area of agriculture , adding that it will help boost the IGR of the state as well as provide employment opportunities.Governor Sani Bello however disclosed that the state government is in the process of importing 90 tractors to help in land preparation as well as the construction of rural roads and feeder roads so as to make farming easier for the people.
