As an enlightened global citizen who understands the limitations of small nations within the USA-China dominated economy of the 21st century, I have become deeply worried with the growing calls for the disintegration of Nigeria now exploding daily with primordial indignation on our national horizon.At a time when Nigeria should be championing the fusion of ECOWAS nations into a single entity with capacity to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with USA, China, EU, Russia, Brazil and such like, we are getting increasingly consumed with strong secessionist passions.Of course, I know that these calls are not all baseless. I'll know that many intelligent compatriots have concluded that if the pathway to a viable all-inclusive Nigeria has become as impassable as it presently is, then we should better consider an alternative existential route vectored towards viable Singapore-like nations.
In the midst of all this confusion and mounting anger, I, in the last few days am becoming increasingly conscious of a possible serious non-secessionist alternative for our dear fatherland, Nigeria.What if 2019 is used to give power to open-minded middle-aged Nigerian sociopolitical miracle workers like Senator Bukola Saraki, Senator Dino Melaye, Mr. Peter Obi, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, Gov. Nasir el-Rufai, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, Gov. Nyesome Wike, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, Gov. Ayodele Fayose, etc.Saraki is working the miracle of an invincible and efficient 8th Senate and that of victory against 'supreme' political persecution. Dino is working the miracle of effective, indefatigable and conscientious pro-people support at the risk of his very own life at every turn on the way. Obi is working the miracle of sanity, integrity and viability after successfully governing a galaxy of impossible billionaires. Ezekwesili is working the miracle of tireless principled commitment to the rights of the voiceless after successful national and world-level public service.El-Rufai is working the miracle of patriotism and integrity in opposition to impossible political feudalism. Tambuwal is working the miracle of the non-acrimonious modernization of imperial traditional feudalism. Wike is working the miracle of delivering the dividends of democracy in opposition to ceaseless harassment with unbridled national might. Oshiomole is working the miracle of continued sanity and relevance after successfully governing with serious courage and integrity.Dogara is working the miracle of a stable, mature and coordinated 8th House of Representatives. Dankwambo is working the miracle of civil, democratic, modern and pro-development executive governance with serious focus and purpose. Ambode is working the miracle of developing a strong but hitherto hopelessly encumbered apex state. Fayose is working the miracle of tangible security and development with meager resources.If these middle-aged Nigerians are working these miracles, I believe that it is our patriotic duty to trust them, in 2019, with the power to work out the Nigeria of our dreams and the dreams of our founding fathers.May the God of Creation direct our noble course. May He guide these middle-aged Nigerian sociopolitical miracle workers right. May He help us all to know and embrace the truth for now and 2019.
