CRK And Arabic Brouhaha

By Sunday Aikuirawo Aniyi

How else can you make hate peddlers to know the truth when they have made up their  mind to accept lies. CRK and IRK are still taught in schools. My children are in elementary school, they study CRK. Their reading assignment for the weekend was Moses and Aaron before Pharaoh
The policy which is now being politicized by opponents of the current regime was introduced in 2013 under Jonathan. More importantly, all commissioners of education, NUT and other stakeholders adopted it. The changes were at the instance of the teachers who complained about over crowded lessons.
Further more, Arabic has always been in our Curriculum, just as French is. It was not recently introduced. People had always known Arabic even before English came around. Arabic is the most widely spoken language in Africa. People get Foreign ministry jobs because of ability to speak foreign languages.  Smart parents should let their children learn as many languages as possible. We are just too foolish in our laughable rivalry in this country.
Every year the USA, through Fulbright scholarship, sponsors people from our schools to go and teach Yoruba to their children in the US. How important is Yoruba to the USA? Typical of us, we are more than happy to go abroad to teach and earn dollars without taking a lesson from the motivation for the US to spend millions of dollars to learn a completely "irrelevant " language. Arabic is popular among almost half of Nigeria,  yet, you think it's not important.
In theological schools, future priests compulsorily  study Islam and ATR, has that made them to become Muslims or idol worshipers. We're too paranoid  and petty. This nation scares daily!
