6 People Feared Dead In Suleja Fracas, Residents In Panic

The ancient city of Suleja,Niger state engulfed in crisis this morning as a result of deadly face off that involved habibants of old army barracks, Suleja and security forces that were drafted to provide security for the state government officials that were carrying out demolition exercise at the old army barracks. six people lost their lives in the crisis. An eye witness said the fracas started as a result of disagreement that occurred on the demolition being carried out on the instruction of the state government.  hoodlums in the old barracks seized the situation to set a earth moving equipment ablaze which resulted to deployment of some security personnel to the site .We learnt that the habibants have been given prior notification of the demolition exercise but remain adamant,with a strong believe that the state government will never carry out the demolition exercise.This is the second time  residents of old army barracks would witness this urgly incident, the last one happened early this year which claimed life of a resident of the area. it would be recalled that the old  barracks housed a battalion of Nigeria Army, the barracks later became abode for some war veterans,before it was later transfered to the Niger State government by former President Goodluck Jonathan led administration The situation has been brought under control by combined team of Nigeria Army and Police force as at the time of filling this report.
