I Have No Plan to Sack Teachers-Gov Sani Bello

Niger state Governor,Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has said there were no plans by his adminstration to sack primary schools teachers in the state employment.He gave this assurance after inspecting the newly established Niger State Professional Teachers Development Institute at Maraban Dandaudu in Muyan Local Government area of the state.The institute was established to produce primary school teachers for public schools,especially in the rural areas.The governor who was reacting to public misconception of his concern and pronouncement that some primary school teachers with fake certificate in public schools were being looked into accusing them of being responsible for poor foundation of pupils and fall in standard of education in the state.Allaying fears of teachers,the governor said,"I learnt of a rumour making round that we intend to sack primary school teachers following the misconception of what I said about the falling standard of education occasioned by inadequate of qualified and competent teachers in our primary schools."I received calls that people are afraid we may retrench primary school teachers,especially those with faulty certificates,the truth is that there is no such plan.We don't have enough teachers,so we are not sacking rather we are going to train and retrain our teachers and those with bad case will be sent back to school".The Governor then said that government's efforts at enhancing the educational sector of the state and to improve teaching standard led to the establishment of the specialised school where pupils who want to take up teaching carrier are giving proper training and on completion sent to their wards to teach.Government plans to establish the Professional Teachers Development Institute in each of the three geopolitical zone of the state.
