Niger State Governor,Alh Abubakar Sani Bello has reiterated that his administration remains committed to investing in the educational sector of the state so as to improve on its standard.Governor Sani Bello stated this on Monday in Minna the state capital while flagging off the Maiden National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS) Skills acquisition program.According to a statement signed by Jide Orintunsin,Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media relations,Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello disclosed that the educational standard of the state had fallen over the years said and his administration will continue to invest in the sector despite the economic challenges in order to improve the quality of graduates in the state."Our education standard is almost dead.It was not killed by the present administration,we met it that way but that not withstanding we are putting all hands on deck to ensure that we get quality education that Niger state deserves"."Education is very expensive and difficult for most politicians because of the gestation period.We must invest in our children, we must invest in education."The quality of our graduates is falling by the day but that is because the very basic foundation is not there anymore at the primary school level"He however,attributed the falling standard of education in the state to decayed infrastructure,limited number of teachers as well as lack of qualified teachers at the elementary level. Adding that "that is why we have decided to establish 3 teacher's training institutions in each of the 3 zones in the state "He advised the youths to engage themselves in skill acquisition programs that will earn them a living and make them independent of themselves as there are no as white collar jobs are hard to find.Earlier,Prof.Ahmad Sadauki,who spoke on "Education in Niger state: The need for a sustainable Development "called on the state government to view education as a continuous hope that the society revolves to increasingly create and maintain its position of relevance in the committee of nations.He also advised the state government to ensure the sustainability of education in the state by ensuring that the facilities made available in schools are well maintained for use by generations to come.He also called for training and retraining of teachers in the state to enable them impact knowledge on students.The National NANISS present,Comrade Lawal Abugi in his address also emphasized on the importance of education in the society adding that there no growth without education.The NANISS President who disclosed that this is the first time in history a student body is championing a cause in financial independence by investing in a skill acquisition program said it will go a long way to empower the youths who are still searching for job opportunities.
